This journal is mostly friend's only. Feel free to add me, but please, comment so I don't think you're a creeper or anything.

It's been exactly six months since my last update.

After over two years together, Bobby and I broke up April 1st.

I now live with Sergio, one of my best friends, and his boyfriend, Chris. Along with us are Vita and as of tonight, a gerbil named Harold (who will soon be acquiring a same-sex friend).

In a few weeks, I begin my senior year.

About three weeks ago, I cut sixteen inches of my hair off, and now have a straightened inversion hair cut -- photos to come.

I recently returned from a week in Colorado, compliments of Jason.

Still running, growing, and changing.

Hope all of you have kept well.

When asked by an anthropologist what the Indians called America before the white man came, an Indian said simply, "Ours." -- Vine Deloria, Jr.

Those in opposition of the currently proposed reform would really do best to get a handle on the loud, uninformed extremists in their camp. (I say "opposition," because namely, the current media focus is upon the opposition -- I'm not trying to imply that the Obama camp has no loud, uninformed extremists.) Minds are rarely changed with shouting -- if you want to make an impact at these town hall meetings, have a solid, logical argument to present.

If you want to call the president a Nazi or a fascist, that's fine; it's your Constitutional right. But don't cry that people aren't taking you seriously when you're not presenting a rock solid argument that there are parallels between the president and Nazism/fascism.

Shouting and name-calling debases political dialogue, and drives away intelligent, issue-focused debate. Our country cannot afford to keep up this sort of behavior.

I'm currently in Bobby's hometown, and have been for the past two weeks or so. It's anticipated I'll remain here until the end August. I have fairly limited access to the internet here, so until late August/early September, I'll be mostly absent from LJ.

Wow. You miss out on a LOT of stuff when you have no internet for a week.

In other news, Bobby, Vita, the ratties, and myself are moved into our new place! Woo!

Following a long and aggravating week of no running due to an injured left knee, I am now back in the game. I was getting very restless and cranky only being able to lift (and ice the crap out of my knee) for that week; forward motion is especially refreshing following its absence.

On year ago today, Bobby and I had our first date.

My mom gave me an extremely touching, thoughtful present for my birthday.

21 roses, each with a memory from a year of my life tied to the stem.

She's so sentimental - I love it.

On another note, my unexpected conversation with Malachi last night ended well, and with the sentiment "He will love you more than I could."

A sigh of relief and simultaneous contentment with life is in order.

Here's a photo of my roommate and mother from this evening:

I apologize in advance for the inconsistent sizing...

This is the two of us a week or so after I'd adopted her.

One year ago, today, I adopted a squirmy, freaked out, little bitty brindle pit bull.

It's been a very interesting year for the two of us.

Today I was back at my mother's to teach a girl from North Carolina how to snowboard. Bobby was also new to it, and by the end of the night, my mother, a long-time skier, even picked it up!

Before we left for snowboarding, however, my mother and her friend got a few shots of Vita and I. I'll be sure to post those in the next few days, with a comparison of the first day I had her. :)
